An RF channel includes the launch, transmission structure, component pads and surrounding conductors. Define its operating band and measurement reference planes first. Material selection and geometry should follow the channel budget and the intended manufacturing construction.
Start with these questions
- Where do the simulated and measured channels begin and end?
- Are laminate data and copper assumptions appropriate to the band?
- Which launch or transition requires detailed modeling?

What to keep in the project record
Agree mask treatment, material alternatives and measurement records. A nominal impedance result alone does not establish RF loss or phase performance.
