Series RLC Resonance and Impedance Calculator

Calculate series rlc resonance and impedance with explicit inputs, units and model limitations.

Use this browser-based tool for an initial engineering estimate. Inputs remain in this page and are not sent to a server.

Enter your values, then calculate.

Method and units

For an ideal series RLC circuit, f₀ = 1 / (2π√LC) and |Z| = √[R² + (2πfL − 1/(2πfC))²]. Values are converted from nH, pF and MHz before calculation.

Model limits

This lumped-element model omits frequency-dependent loss, self-resonance of real components, parasitics and transmission-line effects. Check the actual component models and operating conditions.

Use the result in your project

Record the assumptions with the result. Check actual material and component data, evaluate tolerances and confirm the proposed construction before releasing manufacturing files.
