Plan the manufacturing route
A standard PCB route is suitable when conventional materials and fabrication processes meet the electrical and mechanical requirements. The value comes from using a stable, well-defined construction rather than pushing every feature to the process limit.
Use an appropriate baseline
Choose board thickness, layer count, copper and surface finish from a validated manufacturing proposal. Keep exceptional features visible so they do not disappear within a generic specification.
Reserve advanced features for a reason
Blind vias, selective finishes, tight tolerances or uncommon materials can change the production route. Assess the functional benefit of each feature before including it.
Compare complete quotes
Check electrical testing, tooling, panelization, documentation, shipping and assembly scope. A lower bare-board line item may not represent a lower delivered project cost.
Before you request a quote
- Identify the exact revision and panel requirements.
- Separate mandatory tolerances from preferences.
- Confirm solder-mask and marking requirements.
- Include an acceptance and documentation checklist.
For a build-specific review, provide the actual revision, quantity and delivery requirement. Manufacturing limits, applicable certifications and lead time must be confirmed in the written quotation.
