Plan the manufacturing route
High-reliability procurement requires an explicit contract specification, qualified processes and traceable evidence. A general description such as “mil-spec” does not establish which standard, revision, product class or approval applies to a board. Verify the requirements of the actual program before requesting manufacture.
Name the applicable requirements
List the governing drawings, standards, revisions and contractual flow-downs. Resolve conflicts between drawing notes and purchase documents before production.
Verify supplier scope
Ask for current qualification and certification evidence that covers the facility, process and product being ordered. Do not infer eligibility from a logo or from unrelated work performed by the supplier.
Define the evidence package
Traceability, material records, inspection results and test documentation should be quoted deliverables. Any restrictions on handling technical information must be resolved before transferring files.
Before you request a quote
- Confirm supplier eligibility before sharing controlled project data.
- Specify lot and revision traceability.
- Define deviation approval and change notification.
- Agree the complete shipment record package.
For a build-specific review, provide the actual revision, quantity and delivery requirement. Manufacturing limits, applicable certifications and lead time must be confirmed in the written quotation.
