Start with an approved release
Manufacturing begins with data review and preparation. The team checks the outline, layer registration, drills and drawing requirements, then prepares production artwork and tooling. Any proposed changes should be resolved against the approved revision before processing starts.
Build the interconnect structure
In a typical multilayer construction, internal copper patterns are formed, inspected and bonded into a laminated stack. Holes are created and prepared for conductive interconnections. The exact sequence depends on whether the design uses through vias, blind or buried vias, sequential lamination or other advanced features.
Complete the outer surfaces
Outer-layer circuitry, solder mask, markings and the selected surface finish prepare the board for assembly and use. Dimensional processing separates or scores the production panel according to the agreed delivery format. Special edge contacts, cavities or selective finishes require explicit instructions.
Verify against requirements
Electrical testing checks connectivity against the intended design data. Visual inspection and any agreed coupon or cross-section evaluation address other acceptance requirements. None of these tests automatically proves the function of the later assembled product.
What the designer should control
Provide a complete fabrication drawing and a release manifest. State finished dimensions, hole tolerances, stack-up, copper and special requirements rather than relying on assumptions. Review the manufacturer’s proposed construction before locking controlled-impedance geometry.
