Use these answers to prepare a clear project brief and resolve scope before a manufacturing release.
What should the design brief include?
State the function, interfaces, power conditions, mechanical envelope and acceptance criteria. Identify the available schematic, CAD source and component constraints. Separate fixed requirements from preferences that can be optimized.
Who owns design decisions?
Name the person who approves electrical changes, component substitutions and manufacturing exceptions. Define the deliverables and review checkpoints before work starts. A clear authority prevents incompatible instructions across teams.
How are design revisions controlled?
Keep source CAD, libraries, BOM, fabrication outputs and assembly instructions under one release identifier. Record changes and verify regenerated outputs. Include firmware and test procedures when they affect the build.
What makes a handover complete?
Deliver editable source files and agreed manufacturing outputs, together with known limitations and outstanding decisions. Confirm that library dependencies and configuration files are included. An image of the layout is not a complete manufacturing release.
