Use these answers to prepare a clear project brief and resolve scope before a manufacturing release.
Is a clean CAD DRC enough for release?
It shows that the design meets the configured rules. It does not establish that the rules represent the chosen process or that drawings, materials and assembly instructions are complete. Combine CAD checks with a manufacturing review.
What makes a DFM finding actionable?
Record the affected feature, the manufacturing concern, the proposed change and the person who can approve it. Include marked drawings or coordinates where useful. Avoid closing a finding with an undocumented verbal agreement.
Can the manufacturer edit the data?
Any changes that affect the supplied design should follow the agreed approval process. Review electrical and mechanical consequences, then reconcile the source CAD and output files. Keeping different versions creates repeat-order risk.
When should DFM begin?
Review the stack-up, via architecture, component escape and panel constraints before detailed layout is frozen. A final release review remains necessary, but early decisions are usually easier to change than finished routing.
