Turnkey PCB Projects FAQs

Practical answers about turnkey pcb projects, release requirements and project review.

Use these answers to prepare a clear project brief and resolve scope before a manufacturing release.

What belongs in a full turnkey quote?

Identify fabrication, purchased components, assembly, programming, inspection and test as separate scope items. Include tooling, fixtures and documentation where needed. Confirm the delivery and packaging assumptions before comparing totals.

Can some components be customer supplied?

A partial-turnkey arrangement can combine supplied and purchased parts. Document the source of each item, receiving quantities, packaging, attrition and shortage responsibility. The schedule depends on the complete kit being ready.

Who approves alternate components?

A named engineering authority should approve the exact substitute and any conditions. Check package, pinout, electrical margins and relevant software behavior. A supplier suggestion is not an approved BOM revision.

How are unused parts handled?

Agree ownership, storage, labeling and return of excess material before ordering. Purchase multiples and minimum quantities can create stock beyond the assembled quantity. Keep that inventory associated with the build revision.
