Use these answers to prepare a clear project brief and resolve scope before a manufacturing release.
Is a one-time bend the same as a dynamic flex application?
No. Installation bending and repeated motion expose the circuit to different mechanical demands. Describe the intended radius, direction, motion cycles and environment so the construction can be evaluated appropriately.
Should the quote include the installed shape?
Provide both the flat fabrication data and a drawing of the installed configuration. Mark bend regions, stiffeners and rigid-to-flex transitions. The flat artwork alone cannot explain every assembly or mechanical restriction.
Why might assembly need a carrier?
Flexible sections may not remain flat enough for printing, placement and reflow without support. Discuss carriers, tooling holes, fiducials and handling areas with the assembly team before finalizing the panel.
Can a prototype use a different stack-up from production?
A simplified prototype may answer limited electrical questions, but it may not represent bend life, thermal behavior or assembly performance. Record which requirements it validates and which need a production-representative build.
