Plan the manufacturing route
Miniaturization joins electrical, mechanical, thermal and manufacturing constraints in a very small space. The component technology and substrate construction must be reviewed together. A fine-pitch component cannot be selected independently of escape routing, attachment method and inspection access.
Define the assembly technology
Packaged devices, chip-scale packages and bare-die approaches have different process requirements. State the intended attachment method, materials and handling restrictions early.
Balance density with thermal behavior
Local power density, heat paths and coefficient-of-expansion differences can dominate reliability. Include the mechanical stack and operating profile in the design review.
Make verification part of the design
Tiny assemblies can restrict optical, probe and rework access. Define representative test structures and the required inspection records before committing to the layout.
Before you request a quote
- Provide package drawings and attachment requirements.
- Review flatness and registration requirements.
- Describe thermal and environmental operating conditions.
- Agree inspection, handling and packaging methods.
For a build-specific review, provide the actual revision, quantity and delivery requirement. Manufacturing limits, applicable certifications and lead time must be confirmed in the written quotation.
