Turnkey PCB Manufacturing and Assembly

Coordinate fabrication, component sourcing, assembly and testing in one turnkey PCB project.

Plan the manufacturing route

A turnkey build places responsibility for the bare boards and component procurement within the same manufacturing scope as assembly. It can simplify purchasing, but it only works well when the quoted responsibilities are explicit. Compare complete delivered assemblies, rather than comparing a bare-board price with a price that includes parts and testing.

Full turnkey or partial turnkey?

Full turnkey includes purchased components. Partial turnkey combines purchased and customer-supplied parts. Consigned parts need an agreed count, condition, packaging and replacement policy before the schedule can be committed.

Control component changes

Approved alternates must be electrically, mechanically and environmentally suitable. Record approvals at manufacturer-part-number level; a matching value alone does not establish interchangeability.

Keep one release baseline

Give the fabricator, procurement team and assembly team a single revision manifest. Changes after purchasing or tooling starts can affect cost, delivery and stock that cannot be returned.

Before you request a quote

  • Identify who owns leftover material and minimum-order quantities.
  • Separate component lead time from board and assembly time.
  • Include programming fixtures, firmware and functional-test instructions.
  • Define acceptance, packaging and shipment documentation.

For a build-specific review, provide the actual revision, quantity and delivery requirement. Manufacturing limits, applicable certifications and lead time must be confirmed in the written quotation.
