PCB Manufacturing for US Buyers

A procurement checklist for US teams comparing PCB fabrication, assembly and cross-border project requirements.

Start with the required manufacturing location

PCB Assembly and Manufacturing is based in Shenzhen, China. If your project requires fabrication or assembly in the United States, identify that requirement at the start of procurement and verify the actual manufacturing facility with the supplier. The location of a sales contact does not establish the origin of the finished board.

Compare the full delivered project

  • Specify whether the scope includes boards, components, assembly, programming and testing.
  • Compare one approved revision and the same quantity breaks.
  • Confirm the delivery destination, packaging and responsibility for transportation and import arrangements.
  • Separate manufacturing completion from the required arrival date.

Keep engineering communication explicit

A time-zone difference makes a complete release package especially valuable. Name the engineering contact and agree how questions and proposed substitutions are approved. Include a drawing, stack-up, exact BOM, placement data and any special acceptance records. Record approvals in the project file so the next build does not depend on informal conversations.

Review eligibility before sending files

Where a contract restricts suppliers, manufacturing locations or access to technical information, have the responsible procurement and compliance teams confirm the applicable process before transferring the design. A general quotation request should not be treated as confirmation that a supplier meets those conditions.
